What galaxies are there outside the Milky Way?

There are many galaxies in the Milky Way, which we call extragalactic galaxies. /kloc-in the 0/7th century, some hazy celestial bodies were discovered one after another, so they were called "nebulae". Some nebulae are gas, and some are considered as cosmic islands composed of many stars like the Milky Way. Because they are too far away from the earth, it is impossible to distinguish hazy celestial bodies composed of a large number of stars through observation. In the 1920s, American astronomer Hubble discovered a celestial body named Cepheid Variable Star in the Andromeda Nebula, calculated the distance of the nebula, and finally confirmed that it was a celestial system outside the Milky Way, calling them "extragalactic galaxies". Extragalactic galaxies, referred to as galaxies for short, are celestial systems located outside the Milky Way and composed of billions to hundreds of billions of stars, nebulae and interstellar matter. At present, about 654.38+billion extragalactic galaxies have been discovered. The Milky Way is just an ordinary galaxy. It is estimated that there are more than 1000 billion galaxies outside the river, which are like islands dotted in the vast ocean, so they are also called "cosmic islands".

From the discovery of extragalactic galaxies, we can look back at our galaxy. It is just an ordinary galaxy, a member of the family of hundreds of billions of galaxies, an island in the universe and a tiny part of the infinite universe.
