What was the ancient Kuixing God in China?

According to legend, there was a scholar in ancient times whose name could not be tested. Let's call him Kuixing. This man is brilliant, brilliant. He read aloud from memory and then said it out loud. But he is so ugly that he always comes last in the interview.

It is said that Kuixing is ugly, pockmarked, lame in one foot and limping in walking. However, the article he wrote was really good, and he was finally admitted step by step after obtaining the provincial examination and the senior high school entrance examination, ranking first in high school again and again. In the palace examination, the emperor personally interviewed his literary talent, and he was a little unhappy when he saw his appearance and walking posture with the circle on the temple. The emperor asked, "What happened to your face?" Kuixing replied: "Back to the Holy Land, this is' pockmarked face reflecting the sky and holding stars'." Hearing this, the emperor thought the man was very funny and asked, "Where is your lame leg?" Kuixing replied, "Go back to the Holy Land. It's a leap from the dragon gate." The emperor was satisfied with Kuixing's agility and asked, "Then I ask you a question, and you should answer it truthfully. You say, who writes the best articles in the world today? " Kuixing thought for a moment and said, "The articles in the world belong to my county, the articles in my county belong to my hometown, and the articles in my hometown belong to my brother. My brother asked me to change the article. " The emperor was overjoyed. After reading his article, I was even more amazed. He couldn't help saying, "It's the best in the world!" "So Kuixing was appointed as the champion. This ugly scholar's talent, wisdom and hard work have made him the top scholar, the top four in the Big Dipper, with both fame and fortune. When the word Kuixing is disassembled, it is half a ghost, with an ugly face and half a bucket. Kuixing is a talented person and is also a Beidou constellation.

It is said that from then on, the stone slab in the middle of the steps of the main hall of the palace was engraved with dragon patterns and aojiang patterns, and a chief bucket was placed next to it. When palace examination announced the list, the candidates gathered in front of the temple, and the Jinshi stood at the steps to meet the list. The champion appeared at the top of the list, holding the champion in one hand, indicating that he won the championship in one fell swoop.

Kuixing is the god who dominates the rise and fall of articles in China mythology. Kuixing was originally the common name of Kuixing, one of the "twenty-eight hostages" in ancient astronomy, referring to the first four stars of the Big Dipper, namely Shu Tian, Tian Xuan, Tianji and Tianquan. These three stars are not only collectively called "Kuixing", but also called "Doukui". After Taoism, he was regarded as the god who dominated the literary movement and the god of Wenchang Emperor.

Kuixing belief prevailed in the Song Dynasty, and it has been enduring for a long time, becoming the most admired god of foreigners in feudal society except Emperor Wenchang. The seventh day of July is Kuixing's birthday. In the imperial examination, the one who gets the highest score is called "Kui", because "Kui" and "Kui" have the same pronunciation and have the first meaning.

Kuixing, like Wenchang God, is deeply admired by scholars because he is in charge of literary movement. In the past, almost every town had Kuixinglou and Kuixingge. Because Kuixing also has the meaning of "ghost" grabbing "fight", Kuixing is visualized as a pair of claws.

In our country, the custom of worshipping Kuixing has always prevailed. People call Kuixing a master of literature. Scholars in eastern Fujian respect Kuixing, second only to Confucius, and have the custom of worshipping Kuixing on Tanabata.

The ceremony of worshipping Kuixing was held in the moonlight, so if the residents of the villages in eastern Fujian are prosperous, there will often be a sweet case of worshipping Zhinv and Kuixing in the courtyard on Tanabata night. Ladies get together and are divided into two small worlds with opposite faces and different sexes, which is very lively and interesting.

To worship Kuixing, you must paste a paper figure in advance, that is, Kuixing, blue eyes, brocade robe and soap boots, a crooked chest and red beard in his left hand, and a writing brush in his right hand to put the case on the table. Sacrifice is very grand, without a sheep's head and a ram with long horns. After cooking, tie both ends with red paper, put it on a plate and put it in front of the Kuixing statue.

Those who take part in Kuixing's sacrifice will be held in candlelight and moonlight, set off firecrackers and burn incense to worship, and then have dinner at the table in front of the incense table. During the dinner, there will be a famous game to increase the fun. Longan, hazelnut and dried peanut represent champion, second place and three tripod nails respectively. Hold each dried fruit in one hand, throw them on the table and roll with it.

Some kind of dried fruit rolls in front of someone and stops, then someone is the champion, the second place or the flower scout. If dried fruits roll in all directions, everyone will lose their fame and have to vote again. This is called "retaking the exam". All hits are called "three and". Two of them are in the wrong direction, longan hazelnut, only peanuts come and some people are exploring flowers. This time, I drank a tour and called it "One Theme", so I ate and played until everyone became famous. After the ceremony, firecrackers were set off to burn the paper cymbals, and the Kuixing statue was also burned together with the paper cymbals, thus ending the worship activities.
