Constellation effect _ constellation effect Barnum effect
Barnum effect, also called Fowler effect, was first proved by psychologist bertram Fowler in 1948.
After he finished the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Questionnaire for a group of people, he took out two results and asked the participants to decide which one was their own. In fact, one is the result of the participants themselves and the other is the average result of most people's answers. Participants actually thought that the latter expressed their personality characteristics more accurately.
Barnum effect is a psychological phenomenon proved by psychologist bertram Fowler in 1948. It is named after barnum, a technician. I believe everyone can easily believe that a general description of his personality is especially suitable for him, even if he is not such a person at all.
In psychology, the cause of Barnum effect is considered to be the role of subjective verification. Subjective verification can affect us, mainly because we want to trust our hearts. In our hearts, "self" occupies most of the space, and everything about "me" is very important.
