Sirius black's controversy

Sirius Black is named Sirius, and people usually call it Dog Star, because the constellation in which this star is located is called Giant Dog. It has this nickname because it is the brightest star in the sky. In Greek, Sirius means burning.

Sirius Black was translated into Sirius Black in the simplified version translated by People's Literature Publishing House. This translation was once controversial. One view is that it should be translated into "Cyrus" according to transliteration, because the translation of foreign names has always followed the principle of transliteration. However, the Humanities Society believes that its literal translation should be Sirius, and the mainland version of Sirius is modified on the basis of free translation. The traditional Chinese version (published by Crown Publishing House of Taiwan Province Province, China) also adopts free translation, which is called Sirius Black.

In addition, the translation of Sirius's "Xiao" is also controversial, because in the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, there is a clear "Xiao" in front of Sirius, and the translation we saw clearly put forward "Sirius" when Sirius was mentioned for the first time, because later, when the genealogy was mentioned in the fifth part, we could know that some people in the Black family were also named Sirius Black. But if so, the name "Sirius Black" should be formed by adding "Junior" after Sirius Black, and it has nothing to do with "young". Therefore, the translator of the third part obviously misquoted the translation of the first part, because in the second chapter of Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, Sirius starting with "young" did not appear, but the translator mistakenly translated Sirius into "Sirius", so the name has been used to this day, and in fact no one regards it as a mistake. On the contrary, a word "small" is just the finishing touch to the name "Sirius".
