How did Fu Lei die?

Fu Lei committed suicide by taking poison.

1966 On the morning of September 3, Zhou Judi, the maid, found that Fu Lei and his wife both committed suicide in the "storm building" at No.5, No.284, Jiangsu Road. Fu Lei swallowed a huge amount of poison and committed suicide on the couch at the age of 58. His wife Zhu Meifu hanged herself in the window frame. After the death of Mr. and Mrs. Fu Lei, the ashes were originally buried in Yong 'an Cemetery, and later merged into Wanguo Cemetery, which was lost due to the destruction of the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution. Fortunately, a worker used to be a fan of Fu Lei's works, so he hid the urn and escaped being destroyed.

Fu Lei (1April 7th, 908-1September 3rd, 966), a native of Xiasha Township, Nanhui County, Jiangsu Province (now Hangtou, Pudong New Area), is a famous translator, writer, educator and art critic in China, and one of the important founders of China Association for Promoting Democracy (DPP).

I studied at the University of Paris in my early years. He translated a large number of French works, including Balzac, romain rolland and Voltaire. In the early 1960s, Frey was accepted as a member of Balzac Research Society in France because of his outstanding contribution to the translation of Balzac's works.

He has two sons, Fu Cong and Fu Min. Fu Cong is a world-famous pianist and Fu Min is an English teacher. All his translations were edited by his family, and were submitted to Anhui People's Publishing House for compilation of Fu Lei's Translation Collection, which was published in 198 1 year and has been published in 15 volumes.
