Brief introduction of Georgian red wine

Georgia is the most different example of the former Soviet Union. At present, it has been found that grape seeds left over from ancient winemaking are enough to prove that this country has a history of winemaking of at least 5,000 years, and even prehistoric artifacts unearthed can show that they have understood the importance of pruning. The long history has enabled them to cultivate at least 500 different grape varieties, and even now, most of them are still brewed by traditional ancient methods.

Georgia has three wine-producing regions with a long history. The first one is Kahti, which has the driest climate and can reach the Caucasus Mountains in the east. Two thirds of the grapes in this country are produced in this area. Then there is the Cattell area, where clay tanks are rarely used, and it is located on a flat plot not far from the capital Tbilisi; Finally, the Imereti production area is located in the west with a humid climate.
