1. For the digital oscilloscope, the real data points are scattered points, because the data is interpolated, so you can see the curve. When you turn off the interpolation processing of the oscilloscope, you will see independent scattered points, which are the actual sampling points of the oscilloscope.

2. If your oscilloscope has the function of Z-axis input, that is, the input function of brightness signal, then when your brightness input is a rapidly changing pulse, you will also see scattered points.

3. In XY mode, if the XY input is an electrical signal digitized by DA, the output may also be a matrix where a plurality of scattered points gather together (similar to a constellation diagram in communication engineering).
