2. Yuan Longping is a pioneer and leader in the field of hybrid rice research, devoted himself to the research, application and popularization of hybrid rice technology, invented the "three-line method" indica hybrid rice, successfully developed the "two-line method" hybrid rice, and created the technical system of super hybrid rice;

3.20/kloc-0 won the "Future Science Award" life science award on September 8th, 2008. On February 8, 20 18, 18, the CPC central Committee and the State Council awarded Yuan Longping the title of reform pioneer, the reform pioneer medal and the research pioneer of hybrid rice. Extended data:

Yuan Longping has been engaged in the theoretical research of hybrid rice breeding and the practice of seed production technology for a long time. 1964 first put forward the idea of cultivating "sterile line, maintainer line and restorer line" to make use of rice heterosis, and carried out scientific experiments. 1970, he and his assistants Li Bihu and Feng Keshan discovered a male sterile wild rice in Hainan, which became the key to break through the "three lines" matching.

Yuan Longping took the lead in studying the utilization of rice heterosis in China. In his first paper, Rice Male Sterility, he proposed: "If you want to take advantage of rice heterosis, you must first take advantage of male sterility". His theory and research practice are a challenge to the classical genetic theory, denying the traditional view that "self-pollinated crops have no heterosis" and greatly enriching the theory and technology of crop genetics and breeding.
