Because of her father's mutation, Daisy was born with the ability to create shock waves, but she is not a mutant (because her ability has nothing to do with the X gene necessary for mutants), but an alien. At first, she didn't know her life experience. As a descendant of criminals, she was closely watched by SHIELD. Director Nick Frey recruited her and secretly trained her to be his assistant, code-named Thor's Hammer.

After Skye was adopted by Gregory and Janet Sutter, seven-month-old Daisy was named Cory Sutter. Her adoptive parents didn't know her life experience, raised her as their own daughter, and didn't tell her she was adopted. 17 years later, Daisy, a teenager, dropped out of school because of her high IQ.

Then, Daisy took the exam. The results show that her ability is not the result of X gene mutation, but her father's chemical experiments on herself, and the influence of these experiments is passed on to her, which means that Daisy is not a mutant.
