"Sagadawa" means the Pleiades moon in Tibetan (the Pleiades is one of the 28 stars in Tibetan astrology), which is the birthday, enlightenment day and death day of Shagamuni, the founder of Buddhism. During this month, believers will carry out various activities to commemorate it, and over time it will become a large-scale prayer-turning activity.

The so-called sutra turning is a form of Tibetan Buddhism, which walks and prays according to the agreed circular line. There are three turning routes in Lhasa, namely Baokuo, Bajiao Street and Linkuo Road. At Sagadawa Festival, Linkuo is the most spectacular route to turn the warp. From the first day of Sagadawa, crowds of people passed through the meridian on Linkuo Road. On the fifteenth day of the Tibetan calendar, the meridian passage reached its peak, and there was a flood of people from 2 am to night.

On Sagadawa Festival, giving has become a traditional custom of Tibetan people in Lhasa. For Tibetans, this festival has always followed the tradition that the rich help the poor. It is said that Sagadawa Festival will last for a whole month. During this period, Tibetans who believe in Tibetan Buddhism will commemorate the Buddha Sakyamuni in their minds by turning over scriptures, burning incense, eating fast food and releasing them, especially on religious auspicious days, which is considered to be a good thing.
