Young solar system? Orion, 0/300 light-years away from Earth/kloc-,is forming a protostar system.

Astronomers used the powerful Atacama Large Millimeter and Submillimeter Array Telescope (ALMA) to obtain an ultra-fine astronomical image, and captured a very young protostar (a star in the embryonic stage) eating a "dust burger", which is the earliest dust accretion disk that astronomers have been looking for for for many years. This study confirms that accretion disks will form in the early stage of star formation, which challenges the existing theory of accretion disk formation. At the same time, the vertical structure of accretion disks is displayed for the first time, which provides clues for how dust particles grow and precipitate in the early stage of planetary formation.

In Orion, which is 0/300 light-years away from the Earth, there is an "embryonic" star in the center of the star system HH2 12. It is very young, only 40,000 years old. We call it a "protostar", which emits a powerful jet. Previous studies have shown that there may be a small dust disk near this protostar. Now, through the observation of Atacama's large millimeter wave and submillimeter wave array telescope with 25 times higher resolution, we not only actually detected the dust disk from submillimeter wave band, but also clearly saw many important details. This disk faces the earth at an almost complete lateral angle, and the radius of the disk is about 60AU. Interestingly, there is a "dark belt" sandwiched between two bright areas in its center, which looks like a hamburger. The reason for this interesting feature is that the temperature near the intermediate layer is relatively low and opaque. This dark band structure implies that the dust disk will bulge slightly at the edge (relative to the center of the disk), which is very close to the phenomenon predicted by the accretion disk model!
