Why are some patent numbers "wo" in the country code? Isn't that what "World Patent Organization" means? Then what does this patent number mean?

On behalf of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), I say that patents are approved by the PCT treaty.

The main function of the organization is to promote worldwide intellectual property protection through cooperation between countries, manage the administrative work of 23 patent, trademark and copyright alliances based on multilateral treaties, and handle the legal and administrative affairs of intellectual property rights.

All patent applications filed through PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) begin with WO after international publication. In the subsequent stage, the PCT application can enter various national stages according to the applicant's choice.

Patent number means that it is registered by WIPO, and patent applications can be filed in many countries, marked with WO patent number, which is more used for patent search of the same family.

9= PCT utility model patent application entered the national stage in China.
