Orion Nebula M42 is the best nebula in the winter sky.

The M42 Orion Nebula spans about 40 light years, with a distance of about 1 500 light years, and is located on the same spiral arm of the Milky Way as the sun. Astronomers have directly observed protoplanetary disks, brown dwarfs, violent and chaotic movements of gas and a large number of photon stars nearby.
