Not everyone can recognize a new star with the naked eye /kloc-Duan Yuanxing, who has been insisting on amateur astronomy for 0/6 years, with solid astronomical knowledge, when he saw this extra "new star" on his familiar star map, it was like seeing an eye suddenly grow on the face of a familiar friend.

Duan Yuanxing recalled the night that changed his life's fate and was still very excited: "After dinner that day, I once went swimming in Meijiang for a while. I felt a little tired, so I climbed ashore, lay on the river and began to count the stars. When my eyes moved to the swan, I suddenly found a bright star on this constellation! I thought it was an artificial earth satellite at first, so I watched it intently for more than a minute and found that the star didn't move at all. I hurried home, carefully observed this bright star with my own astronomical telescope, checked its position and measured its brightness ... I quickly concluded that it was a new star! "

The reportage "Young People Exploring the Mysteries of the Starry Sky" was selected as the sixth volume of the national junior middle school Chinese textbook 1979 to 1983.

4000 years ago, when Dayu in China was harnessing water, a new Milky Way star broke out, and its brightness increased by 654.38+million times. The dazzling light produced by the explosion of this new star reached the earth where human beings lived at the end of August 1975.

Duan Yuanxing, an educated youth in Zhuze Commune, Ningdu County, Jiangxi Province, who loved astronomy since childhood, discovered this new star on August 30th 19: 35 Beijing time. At 22: 45 Beijing time, Mr. Shen of Beijing Observatory also independently discovered this famous new star with astronomical telescope. Although their discoveries were quickly recognized by domestic astronomical circles, they were all independent discoveries, not the first discoverers, and were not recognized by the world. The first discoverer of this new star was K. Osada.

More than two years later, Liu Lansheng, a reporter from Jiangxi Daily, wrote a reportage about Duan Yuanxing's discovery of a new star, Young People Exploring the Mysteries of the Starry Sky (contained in 1978 No.3 of PLA Literature and Art), and it was selected into the sixth set of national junior high school Chinese textbooks from 1979 to 1983. In the past five years, nearly 100 million middle school students across the country have learned the story of Duan Yuanxing's discovery of new stars by reading this text. Duan Yuanxing discovered this new star with the naked eye and won glory for the motherland. The motherland has not forgotten him. After the downfall of the Gang of Four, he was transferred to the station by the Beijing Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and then sent to the Physics Department of China University of Science and Technology for further study. During this period, he was elected as a member of the Fifth China People's Political Consultative Conference and attended the National Conference on Science and Technology. When he returned to the capital after studying and living in the Physics Department of China University of Science and Technology for six years, he had been working in the Beijing Observatory. A few years ago, the Chinese Academy of Sciences adjusted its research institutions, and he was assigned to the Second Department of the National Astronomical Observatory to engage in popular science work. Now he has retired.
