Basic introduction of Sagittarius

This is a map of Sagittarius. The ancient Greeks imagined it as Garong, a centaur with a bow and arrow pointing to the big scorpion (Scorpio) in the west. You notice the six stars μ, λ, φ, σ, τ, τ in this constellation, and they also form the shape of a spoon. The two stars τ and τ at the front of the spoon point to Altair. In ancient China, it was called "Fighting the South" and "Fighting the Big Dipper Six", which has always been the formula of astrologers. While Nandou Liuxing has only one 2m star, and the others are 3,4m dark stars, so it is far less obvious than the Big Dipper.

In ancient China, the Sagittarius star was divided into two parts. The six stars in Nandou are Dousu, and the star under Gallon's bow and arrow is Jisu. The bucket is used to measure rice, and the dustpan is used to raise grain. They are all farm tools, often called. Sagittarius is facing the center of the Milky Way, so there are many clusters and nebulae in it. Where the connecting line between σ and λ in Nandou doubles to the west, you can see a small cloud-like thing, which is actually a nebula. In the telescope, it is composed of three red dots, which is very beautiful and is called "trifid nebula". Sagittarius has many nebulae. For example, there is a horseshoe-shaped nebula in the north of bucket handle μ star in Nandou, so it is called "horseshoe nebula".
