How was Curiosity photographed?

It is reported that these photos were taken by Curiosity with the telephoto lens on the mast camera during the Thanksgiving Day of 20 19, with a total of1800 million pixels. There is also a smaller panorama taken with a mid-angle lens. It contains 650 million pixels, and the photo also captures the robotic arm and deck of the detector.

The photos were taken by Curiosity from165438+1October 24th to 65438+February 60th. At that time, Curiosity had been "working" during the Thanksgiving holiday, while its team on Earth was enjoying the holiday. Before leaving, they sent instructions to Curiosity to determine the position of the camera and ensure that the image was clear. For about four days, it took photos every day between noon and 2 pm local time, so that the light in the photos was consistent.

Two panoramic photos taken by Curiosity show that its current home is in Glen Torrytown, where there are the oldest rocks in the world. Curiosity has been observing the clay deposits in Glen Torriton. It is located in Gail Crater, a huge and dry ancient lake bed with a Shapu Mountain at an altitude of about 5000 meters (16404 feet) in the center.

It is reported that Gael Crater may have been filled with streams and lakes billions of years ago, which is why NASA landed Curiosity here in 20 12.

Ashwin Vasavada, a Curiosity project scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said: "Although many people in our team enjoy turkeys at home, Curiosity has brought us a visual feast."
