You can still see the stars hanging high in Hainan.

Before the Ming Dynasty, the southernmost stars recorded in ancient astronomical books in China were Laoren and Nanmener, and the stars farther south could not be seen in China except South China. In the Ming Dynasty, the western constellation map was introduced, and more southerly constellations such as Water Committee, Peacock, Southern Cross, Crane, Southern Boat, Seamount, Bee (i.e. fly) and Horse's belly were added. In fact, all the above constellations can be seen in Hainan Island, but ancient astronomers in China did not go to Hainan for observation. Among these constellations, Mabelly I, Crane I, Cross II and Cross III are all very eye-catching bright stars. I think you should be talking about the four-star Southern Cross.
