Brief introduction of twelve constellations

The twelve constellations, or zodiac signs, are astrologically described areas where the sun passes through the zodiac on the celestial sphere, including Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Ophiuchus also passes through the zodiac, but it does not belong to the zodiac used in astrology. In astrology, the definition of the zodiac only refers to the zodiac. After the International Astronomical Union standardized the constellation boundary in 1928, there were 13 constellations on the ecliptic. The statistical constellation of the zodiac is abbreviated as the number of bright stars, the brightest star area, the ecliptic time, right ascension, declination 1-2-3-4 equidistant Aries, ARI, 2nd floor, Su 34413.21-4.20 02h38.16m+20 47.540-/kloc Tau 3, Taurus, Tau 3, Pijie 5,252 4.21-5.20 04h42.13m+14 52.631-2-23 Gemstone 4, Gemini. 5145.56638.56566665 07h04.24m+22 363-8.2210h40.03m+1308.321-2-3-/kloc-. -0-3- 1 1 Libra lib2zubeneshamali 538 9.23-10.2315h1.96m-1514.08. +00.24-11.21.16h53.24m-2701.891-3-10-/kloc. +0 1 9h05.94m-28 28.610-2-8-10 Capricorn hat1wall array iv 41412.22-/kloc-.

Note 2: Bright stars refer to magnitude.

Note 3: The column of "season" in the table is based on the transit date of 20: 00.

Note 4: The transit of Ophiuchus is based on the head, because it extends too long.

Note 5: In the column of "Location" in the table, "Northern Sky" or "Southern Sky" respectively indicate that all or most of the constellations are located in the north of+35 declination or south of-35 declination; "Equator" means that the constellation is located between 35 degrees declination; "Zodiac" is a constellation of the zodiac, and its position is also between 35 degrees declination.

Note 6: The column "1 magnitude" in the table also includes those brighter than 1 magnitude.

Ptolemy constellation

In addition to the twelve constellations, Ptolemy also listed the following thirty-six (thirty-eight now, because the Southern Constellation has been split into three independent constellations):

Andromeda | Aquarius | Aquarius | Sagittarius | Aries | Auriga | Shepherd | Cancer | Canis | Capricorn | Cassiopeia | Centauri | Cepheus | Corona | Raven | Big Jazz | Swan | Dolphin Scorpio | Scorpio | Ophiuchus | Orion |

Ophiuchus-actually it intersects with the zodiac, but traditionally it is not considered as one of the zodiac constellations.

Later, the number of constellations kept increasing, mainly to fill the gap between Ptolemaic constellations (because the ancient Greeks thought there was a dim gap between bright constellations), and another reason was that when European explorers drove south, they could see some stars that they could not see before, so they had to join new constellations to fill the southern sky.

Some nominated constellations were not finally adopted as official constellations. The famous one is Quadrans Muralis (now part of Capricorn)-the meteor shower of Quadrans is named after this constellation. There are also some less formal star arrangements called constellations, such as Beidou.

In fact, the stars in the same constellation are irrelevant in most cases. They are only in the same line of sight, but in fact they may be far apart-if we were in another solar system of the Milky Way, the starry sky we saw would be completely different.
