The ice shield is designed and created based on the panda. Ice symbolizes purity and strength. The combination of panda image and ice crystal shell embodies the characteristics of winter ice and snow movement and modern technology.

The shape of the head shell is taken from the ice and snow sports helmet, decorated with colorful rings, and inspired by the ice ribbon of the National Speed Skating Hall of Beijing Winter Olympics. The flowing bright lines symbolize the track of ice and snow movement. The heart-shaped pattern in the palm of the left hand represents the warm welcome of the host country to friends all over the world.
