In addition, the two main temperament classifications recognized by psychology have great similarities with Hippocrates' theory of body fluid. First of all, Pavlov, a scientist of the former Soviet Union, divided temperament into exciting, active, quiet and inhibitory types according to the intensity, balance and flexibility of neural processes, which respectively corresponded to the choleric, sanguine, mucinous and depressive temperament of Hippocrates. The second is the theory of British trait psychologist Eysenck. According to the two dimensions of personality, namely neuroticism and extraversion, he divided people's temperament into four types: introverted instability, extroverted instability, extroverted stability and introverted stability, which correspond to depression, choleric, sanguine and mucinous respectively.
