Who is Richard Lionheart?

Richard Lionheart, son of Henry II, became king of England in 1 189. As a knight, he is brave and invincible on the battlefield. As a king, he is highly respected. Robin Hood added mystery and legend to his life.

Richard led the Crusades and even his opponents admired him very much. After losing the battle with Saladin for Jerusalem, Saladin respected his personality and sent him and the rest of the army home. 1 199 died in revenge for the French king. His "Heart of the Lion" was taken to Rouen Cathedral. Christians and Muslims have always argued that Jerusalem is their holy city.
